Don’t Split the Party!

We’re a massive club and we get out after dark. We started the DSTP program so that we can be sure you all get home safely! DMs should coordinate which players go where. If you can’t find your DM or they haven’t done DSTP, find a board member! We’re always the last to leave and we want you to feel safe.

The Census

OSD #1!!

The first One-Shot Day is here! We’ll be running OSD in Sharon’s Alcove from 2-6pm, and we can’t wait!

We only had a couple of DMs sign up so we’re welcoming any and all pop-up DMs of any and all skill levels! This is a great, chill way to practice your mad DM skillz.

OSD is also a great way to get to know other DUDADers outside of the formal meeting. Make new friends! Hang out! Run a lazers and feelings sesh! It’s gonna be a good time. Don’t forget to bring your own snacks.

Club Supplies

We have supplies to rent out! Player handbooks, battlegrids, dice, and more! To check out supplies, visit Jordyn Merritt in Sharon’s Alcove, find her in one of the middle huddle spots.

USG

There used to be a not-so-nice, anti-USG rhetoric in DUDAD. The exec board does not support this and just wants to remind our players that USG have helped us in more ways than we can tell. A lot of problems lie in the DU Administration overall, but the blame gets pushed onto USG, who are students just like us. We encourage you to keep that in mind and to be kind. And vote! It matters, and if all 100+ of us vote, we make a massive impact on this campus!

Dues

We don’t want to have to charge dues, but we need to keep the club afloat. If you haven’t yet, hand $5 cash to Bones. On Fridays, he can be found in room 201. He’s also going to be at One-Shot Day this afternoon, and you can turn them in there as well!

We understand cash can get a little weird. If that’s the case, send $5.50 to @dudad on Venmo (the name that’ll come up is Hannah Renea Bumgarner. That’s HR!) We only charge the extra 50 cents because withdrawing that money comes with fees. Thank you for your understanding!

T-Shirts

We’ve only had 5 interest responses for t-shirts so far, which is unfortunately not enough for us to order and breakeven. If you’ve already filled out the form and really, really want a t-shirt, remind your friends to!


If you already have a shirt, why not give it a friend? Mountain of t-shirts. All for you. Hoard them like a dragon. Just picture it.

Last night was the kick-off meeting for DU Dungeons & Dragons and we’re so excited to have had such a crazy fun start to the Fall Quarter!

If you didn’t have a chance to come to the opening meeting, here’s what you missed:

TL;DR Version

  • Fill out the census so HR doesn’t come after you.
  • ONE SHOT DAYS ARE BACK! The first OSD is Sat, Sept 22 in the normal meeting place. To DM, sign up with this form by Wed, Sept 19th at 11:59 PM. (Jump to more info on OSDs)
  • Dues are $5 in physical cash and $5.50 on Venmo (@dudad).

More Info Version

We had over 100 people in attendance last night which is bananas! We’re so proud of our club! We went from a single, tiny campaign in a senior’s apartment in 2015 to one of the largest clubs on campus in 2018!

Huge shoutout to Jordan Z, Matt, Zach, Maggie, Tabris, HR, Josh, and TJ for stepping in and being backup DMs! Y’all rock and we couldn’t have done last night without you.

That being said, there’s a lot of y’all to organize! Please be sure to fill out our census form if you haven’t already! This will save us a ton of time and energy and hopefully help our club get a little more recognition on campus from USG.

We might be ordering t-shirts again! We’ll only be able to order shirts if we have a decent amount of interest because money is difficult. Please be sure to fill out this form to pre-order your shirt. We won’t be collecting money until shirts are actually in.

One-Shot Days!

OSDs are back! These are awesome, mini-campaigns that are generally more laid back and low pressure than our typical club meetings.

We ask that DMs sign up ahead of time and we encourage everyone to try out DMing if you haven’t. This is a good way to get experience without having to commit to a full quarter! DM signups are due Wednesday, September 19th at 11:59 PM.

The actual OSD is Saturday, September 22nd from 2-6pm in Sharon’s Alcove. Come and go as you please, these are generally really chill, laid back, and a good opportunity to get to know players outside of your campaign.

Dues

We charge a one-time due of $5 for an entire year at DUDAD. This helps us get snacks and make sure everyone is taken care of. We are hoping to remove dues sometime in the future, but until we get proper funding to support our massive club, dues are just a part of things. We appreciate your cooperation.

You can pay physical cash dues to Bones in room ECS 201. We can only make change based on what we have. If you and another player wanna turn in a $10 or something higher, please come to Bones together with the larger bill.

We’ve introduced another way: Venmo! We’re trying out Venmo for ease and convenience this year. Send $5.50 to @dudad to turn in your dues quickly and easily! We have to charge an extra two quarters because Venmo comes with certain fees. We appreciate your understanding!

Dues are due by week 4. That’s the week of Friday, October 5th. Please don’t forget! We keep track of who has and hasn’t paid and we would greatly appreciate getting that squared away ASAP.

Previously, on DUDAD…

It was the last official DUDAD meeting of the year! Thank you, DMs, players, and everyone everywhere for being a part of this journey with us! It’s been real, and we can’t wait to see y’all next fall!

Player Signups

Player signups are open!! If you haven’t already signed up, seriously, what are you doing?

Priority deadline ends Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 at 11:59pm! If you want to be included in the lottery, you must sign up by this time. Otherwise, we will be putting you wherever we have room!
Note: it isn’t the end of the world if you get into a campaign with people you don’t know. One of the best parts about DUDAD is meeting new friends!

Also, super important note:

If you’re signing up for a returning campaign and you put the same DM for your first choice and both backup options, we cannot guarantee you will get into that campaign. If more people sign up than there are open spots, you will be slotted into whatever campaign has available room. Please fill in actual backup options. If you don’t get slotted into your chosen campaign, and your backups are both that campaign also, you’re essentially removed from the lottery. Email us or message us if you have any questions.

If you don’t sign up by June 2nd, you’re going to be put in on a first-come-first-serve basis. May the odds be ever in your favor!

Study Abroad Campaign

Studying abroad? We’re going to be putting together a campaign or two for the fall for all you folks that are globetrotting. Sign up here! Have questions? Message us!

If you’re having a 10th session…

Driscoll appears to be closing parts of the building this Friday. You may need to meet at someone’s place or reserve a room in the library if your campaign is meeting. Tell your DMs. Tell your players.

It goes without saying, but wherever you meet, remember to be mindful of your surroundings. Finals are almost upon us, and people get grouchy if you interrupt their study sesh!

Be sure to tune into the Facebook and website come August/September to find out about meeting spaces and who’s in what campaign. Especially on the meeting spaces thing. We won’t be able to reserve spaces until closer to fall quarter.

Meeting Recap: May 18th

Sorry that it’s taken me a while to get around to getting these notes out there! Let’s get right down to it, shall we?

Next week is our last official meeting. So this Friday, May 25th, 2018 will be the last official DUDAD meeting of the 2017-2018 school year. It’s been real, y’all.

Anytime your campaign isn’t meeting for a week, feel free to host your own One-Shots! It’s the perfect opportunity to test out your DM skillz and play in different styles of campaigns and tabletop RPGs!

We had yet another fabulous OSD on Saturday night. It was a great time! Longtime DUDAD veteran Grayden Rainford was there, training newbie DMs and hanging out and generally blessing us with his presence. We also had board games and Jackbox games and generally a good time. Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed their Saturday night with us.

The Mario Kart tournament also happened Saturday night! A big thank you to Martin for hosting!

Player Sign-Ups Are A Thing

Please, please sign up! As of now (Monday, May 21st at 4 pm), there have been only thirty signups. This entire link is one big obnoxious link to player sign-ups. Sure, you have til June 2nd to sign up, but the sooner the better! It’ll be off your plate, you’ll make us feel chill about it, it’s all around positive. SIGN UP!!!!

Speaking of emails, DU’s emails think I (HR) am a robot. Not gonna lie, I’m a little hurt. ONE SHOT DAY! WOO! Sign up to DM here. It will be Saturday, May 19th, 2-8pm in the usual zone. See you there!

We went over the survey data! Thank you so so much for helping us get that awesome data! We’re going to use it to make DUDAD the best it can be. We’re legitimately so excited about this, especially Merritt. That boy is over the moon.

We’re tossing around the idea of creating a series of campaigns for our members who are study abroad. Potentially, we’d like to pair people from similar timezones to use Skype and run a campaign or two. Please, please email us or message us if you’re interested. We need the interest to organize this, especially because it’s such a new thing.

FALL 2018 PLAYER SIGN UPS ARE HERE! Sign up here or feel HR’s wrath. Please sign up by June 2nd, and 11:59 PM. If you sign up by this time, you’ll get a higher chance of being in the campaign you want. PLUS! We’re doing a new system where, if you don’t get the campaign you want the most, we’ll have a system in place that’ll put you in a higher requested campaign in the next quarter. Still, all our campaigns are great and come with their own fun, so keep an open mind.

After the June 2nd deadline, it’s first come, first serve for all remaining spots, so best of luck! Incoming freshmen are going to be assigned the first session as well. Please read all the instructions carefully!

Previously, on DUDAD…

OSD was yesterday! Did you have fun? I know I did.

We’ve gotten some great feedback on our demographics survey! Thank you to everyone who’s participated. That info is incredibly important to us and we’re addressing your concerns and suggestions!

  • We recommend to DMs to have a “Session 0” to hash out character sheets and get to know everyone so we’re able to use DUDAD for it’s best purpose: making new friends! This is also an excellent opportunity for learning everyone’s names and pronouns!
  • We’re going to try and push a wide variety of people to DM so that we have more representation among our DMs. DUDAD has habitually had mostly white cis-men as DMs and we’re hoping to cast a wider net using our DM Workshops! If you have any more suggestions, definitely message us or leave a comment below.
  • The pre-game meetings are important, but we hadn’t realized they may be anxiety-inducing or uncomfortable for some of our players. We’re so sorry about that, and will be actively sending out these recap emails on Sundays following the meetings. Thanks for the heads up!
  • We are also sorry for not including more options in the gender portion of this survey! We will not be including other options in this survey simply because it would skew the data we’ve already received, but we will definitely be including more trans-friendly options in the future. Again, thank you!
