Likelihood of Running
Some of our DMs are serving as backups. We’ve included them on this list in case you really, really want to play with them, but be sure to keep this in mind! We recommend selecting mostly campaigns that are guaranteed to run next quarter to ensure you don’t have complications getting into a campaign. We cannot guarantee our backups will run.
The ranking system of likeliness is as follows:
- I plan to be a DM this quarter
- I’d rather be a DM but I would be fine playing if necessary
- I’m fine either way
- I’d rather be a player but I could DM if necessary*
- Last resort: if the world ends and every other DM is obliterated, I could DM*
*NOTE: 4’s and 5’s are not posted on the website as they are super heckin’ backups. We only post them if we’re really in a pinch.
Online
NEW: Spring Quarter 2022 at DU will be in-person. This section will tell you whether or not the campaign will meet online. It will be listed under the Game System, Edition, & Stats section of the campaign descriptions.
If the online section says, “I’d like to GM in-person if we can, but online is okay!,” this campaign will run in-person unless it shifts back to online for the quarter.
If the online section says, “I’ll be GMing online!,” this campaign will run solely online.
Game System, Edition, & Stats
Here you’ll find all the logistic info to consider how badly you want to join the campaign.
First, there’s the game system, meaning which tabletop role-playing game (RPG) the DM is going to run. Most of our DMs run traditional Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), though some run other fun things as well!
Just below that, you’ll see what edition of the game system they’ll be running. Not all tabletop RPGs have multiple editions, but some of them do. This is important because some of the core mechanics (rules) can change from edition to edition. For example, D&D has been in existence since 1974 and has changed dramatically since then. The most recent edition, 5th edition, was published in 2014.
Below that, you’ll see if this is a brand new campaign, or what’s known as a continuing campaign. Sometimes, DMs start a campaign that will last longer than the nine sessions we have in a quarter. They will list their campaign as “continuing” to indicate if they are running the same campaign that they ran last quarter.
You can still join a continuing campaign even if you weren’t in it while it previously ran. Continuing players have priority for open spots, but if someone leaves or the DM otherwise has open spots, you might be able to join!
Silliness Index is an important stat to DUDAD. Some DMs like to run goofy games that are chock-full of memes and jokes and silly times. Some DMs like a more serious campaign that tells a grounded, narrative structure. The scale is from 1 to 5, with 1 being a very serious, grounded campaign and 5 being an overall goof-fest.
The scale of the campaign indicates how high the stakes are, which is also on a range of 1 to 5. Do you like tight-knit stories where your character is solving a small mystery, or would you rather have the fate of the multiverse in your hands? Smaller-scaled campaigns (1) will have those small, focused stories, while larger-scaled campaigns (5) will have much more epic proportions.
Rule adherence is how strictly the DMs plan to stick to their system’s rules. 1 means there’s a lot of flexibility, 5 means this campaign is to the book.
Commitment level indicates how committed the DM expects players to be. A 1 is a low level of commitment, so your DM would probably be chill if you had to miss a few meetings. A 5 is a high level of commitment, which means you will most likely be expected be fully engaged and at every meeting during the quarter.
Features give players an idea of what the DMs play-style is like. Like a lot of combat where death is around the corner? There are characteristics for that. Do you enjoy more role-playing? That exists too.
Campaign Description
This is one of the most important things you’ll find on this page. The description is what the DM has written to let you know what kind of adventure you’ll be going on. If you have a favorite setting (e.g. pirates or space-themed) or you wanna know what your party will be up against, this is where to find that. Be sure to keep in mind the stats above too! If you’re not into zombies usually but you see all their stats are your style, you might be surprised at what a fun time you can have!
Notes
We try to tailor our DM sign-ups to have all the information a DM might need, but occasionally we leave out certain details or the DM has something game-specific they want you, the players, to know. Not every DM will provide notes for their campaign, which is okay. That usually means all the info you need is above! The notes section can have helpful information about the campaign!
If anything doesn’t make sense or is generally gobble-dee-gook, don’t hesitate to reach out to us and let us know! We try to make the sign up experience as easy as we can.
Happy Adventuring!

One of your buddies saw an advertisement for Dragon Burger on TV, but, unfortunately, you live in New Joissey and Dragon Burger is only in Caulifornia. Naturally, the only logical option is for your entire friend group to road trip across the country. Wacky shenanigans will ensue, and there is nothing you can do about it. (All fantasy elements of D&D still apply!)

Hundred years have passed since the fall of the order and the corrupt rider rules the land with an iron fist. The only hope for the land lies with people that have found the remaining dragon eggs. Jackson’s Campaign Description
D&D IN SPACE!!! I’m running a campaign using the newly released Spelljammer ruleset for 5e! The vastness of space and the infinitude of time in the astral sea means that the campaign will be what you want! Space pirates? Galactic Bounty Hunters? Avengers of lost planets and seekers of forgotten gods?! For every heroic tale in the Astral Sea there is a tale of woe and insurmountable evil. The universe breathes dark forces that threaten all there ever was or will be. Will the wayward brigands and waylaid voyagers of your party have what it takes to stave off the forces of entropy, prevent worldly demise, and alter the fate of the universe in a high-level campaign? Find out and join me this quarter as we embark on a D&D adventure in the stars!
Jackson’s Notes
Spelljammer races are encouraged and the potential for astral-themed homebrew subclasses is discussable. Players will also be encouraged to become somewhat familiar with Spelljammer mechanics (which I have available on D&D beyond) and pick a character with at least some access to magic.

Brian’s Campaign Description
It has been nearly a week since the sun disappeared from the sky. The turning point of a war waged by the people of The Empire of Ballest against the very gods themselves. Deep within the imperial core, the city of Valeria, designed by the empress herself to sustain decades of siege and conflict, has become a new theater for the interplanar war. What the empress hadn’t considered, however, was that not all her subjects were so ready to abandon their divines. Valeria erupted into violence. those loyal to the empire roam the streets, clashing with those they deem heretical. That started only days ago, now, the flames that consume the city can be seen for miles around, a beacon in the darkened sky. both for those who are lost, and for those with ill intent.
Brian’s Notes
Hey there! This game is going to be all about maintaining your little slice of Valeria, protecting it from those who would tear your community apart for imperialistic gains and from the forces of nature that destroy simply because they exist. While the setting is fairly pre-determined, the story will be significantly driven by character backstory! I don’t like page requirements on character backstory, but you will find more enjoyment in the story if you help me along in that regard. There will be a session zero, discussing some of the elements of my setting that may influence how you may build your character etc. We will be using some of the rules from Strongholds and Followers, as well as Kingdoms and Warfare, both by MCDM productions. pdf copies will be shared with everyone in the campaign so we are all on the same page. If you are interested, strongholds and followers is available in the player’s compendium!

Amelia’s Campaign Description
The Order of the Gown was a unity of princesses from all of the kingdoms of Mirra. Thirty years ago, the Order of the Gown entered a peace treaty with their political enemies, the Maroon Church. But this treaty disbanded the Order and in the years since, the Order of the Gown has all but faded from the minds of the people. One year ago, Queen Andara ‘stepped down’ from ruling the Kingdom of Snow and was replaced by a Maroon Deacon. This loss was a slap in the face for the Order, which now struggles to pull itself back together. You are the child of the queen of your kingdom, and must restore the Order of the Gown to stand a chance against the Maroon Church. In your way stands politics, betrayal, and love. Will you remain strong? Or will the Church swallow you whole?
Amelia’s Notes
I will email you more details and a link to join a discord. If you do not have a discord, please say that in an email back. This is my first time running Thirsty Sword Lesbians. We will start off with a session zero for more information. However, if you are able to create a backstory, or a kingdom, or a princess, then go wild over Spring Break! Remember that everyone should aim to be a princess, and we can work together to make you something cool and different!

Expected Duration: 1 Quarter
Features
- Plot-Focused

Ashton’s Campaign Description
Long ago Pariah was a land of monsters. Skilled monster hunters arose to slay them, but many realized that not all monsters were a threat to mankind. Out of fear, humanity demanded the complete eradication of all monsters. So instead the Hunters hid them, disguising their existence as fantasy and fairy tail. Outsiders are the descendants of those monsters whom the Hunters protected. And Half-breeds are the descendants of monsters and humans. However there are still monsters that endanger Humans and Outsiders alike. You will begin attending the Marigold Academy this year. A prestigious school which secretly trains both Humans, Half-Breeds and Outsiders to become the next generation of Hunters to fight monsters and keep the peace between Humans and the Outsiders secretly living among them.
Ashton’s Notes
Mutants and masterminds is a Superhero TTRPG system you may not be familiar with. In the system there are very few limits to what you can be. I will provide a pdf of the rulebook and help with your character creation to assist you in creating whatever concept you come up with. That being said, I have a few requirements.
Firstly, in these games you are not a superhero in your own solo comic, you are a part of a larger group and your character needs to be a willing participant in the group, they can be reluctant but they should not attempt to go off on their own. Think of it like this: this isn’t a Batman story, it’s a Justice League story.
Secondly, you will be starting out fairly weak in the system, so temper your expectations a little. you aren’t heroes yet, you’re still in training so don’t expect to have a lot of super strong powers yet.
Thirdly, this campaign is monsters and modern day themed, so i ask you keep that in mind when creating your character. Try not to come up with concepts that wildly diverge from the theme.(I’m pretty flexible about this though so if you have a concept you really wanna do, talk to me). For example, please avoid aliens, and if you wanna go super tech please either have built it yourself or had someone built it for you, since there’s no way you’ll find some cool monster fighting supertech at your local walmart.
Finally, while I encourage creativity when coming up with your character and powerset, I have one thing I ban, no exceptions. NO TIME TRAVEL.

Abran’s Campaign Description
Welcome to the Behemot, a mobile space station which is home to one of the most popular starship racing events in the galaxy. While racing may be the Behemot’s main draw, the station has many things to offer… In a galaxy beset by war, the Behemot remains a haven for many, both the righteous and the dishonorable. You will be residents of the Behemot, maybe you came to join in the stations races, maybe you are smuggling black market goods, or maybe you have no where else to go. As your home comes under threat, you will need to work together to protect this little spot of peace in a galaxy of war.
Abran’s Notes
The story/sessions will mostly be contained to the setting of the Behemot, but there is a lot to explore in that area. While this is a sci-fi setting, there is a kind of magic to the game system players can use. While the general plot is protecting your home, you are not restricted to making a good/heroic character. You can make a second character and switch between those characters throughout the campaign.
